Whitey Degenerate Fund – 3-19 Plays

Total Wagering Outlay – $162

Gulfstream – Race 9 – 50K claim Turf

9 – Lucas Brady 5-1 – His last race on the turf at Calder was a key race. He was claimed by a good barn 2 back. Today he is adding Lasix. He should run a big one. This horse has some back class as well – which is important in turf racing. He ran very competitive last year as a 3yo in some decent stakes. The only question is will there be any pace for him to close into.

$30 to win – $10 Place

Value Plays

Hawthorne – Race 8 –NW2L 5K

4 – Fear Nor Favor – 12-1 – Like a sprinter stretching out in a field with zero speed. Was overmatched in allowance so I will toss that race and two back he ran into a monster named King Ajax. KA came back to crush the next level of competition since that race. Bottom line he was competitive with tougher and now drops and has a favorable race set up as he should be on or near the lead in a field lacking speed. Also, this a very weak field. Typically, sprinters are a notch above routers at these bottom level events.

$20 Win – $10 Place

Tampa – Race 12 – Maiden 12K claim

11 – Western Slew 6-1 – Has a couple decent angles for today’s race. One of my favorite angles at Tampa is 2nd race over the strip angle. For some reason, horses tend to improve tremendously in their 2nd try over this track. Perhaps it takes some more conditioning to get accustomed to it. It’s probably in the top 5 among longshot angles I employ. The other angle I like here is 2nd start as a 3yo and dropping in class and was bet in the first start (and lured the top jockey on the circuit). And there is also another positive angle horse showing great pace figure and dropping in Class.

$15 Win

Longshots

Gulfstream – Race 8 – Nw3L 30K Claim

3 – Valdosta 20-1 – We may have picked a good day open the fund because this guy could be sitting on a huge one. He had trouble in his last two starts and before that he faced some very tough horses at Philly Park. So if you toss his last two he shows an allowance start at Philly where he went off at 6-1. Those horses in that field are way better than this caliber and now we are getting 20-1. Like that Bravo is jumping back on board – a very positive sign as he was out of town in his last race.

$30 Win – $15 Place

Other Longshots –  Saver bets
