Whitey Plays for March 19th

We will take a  stab at 3 tracks today – Tampa, Hawthorne, and Gulfstream. As astute followers may have noticed from our last week’s pick, Whitey is white hot at Tampa, as he brought in 3 horses between 10 and 20-1 odds. Today we are not as focused on longshots but a few are sprinkled into the mix. Take note of the confidence level assigned to each race. This is indicated by CF. Good luck !!!

Tampa

Race 4 Tampa

CF 10

Race 4 Tampa

6 – News Carrier – 4-1 – This horse has some nice angles working today. Lone speed and drops in condition. Great trainer record at meet.

Race 5 Tampa

Confidence Factor – 2

5 – Maria’s Moon 12-1 – Last was tough race. Faced some toughies at Monmouth last year. Can upset.

Race 6 Tampa

CF – 5

1 – Royal Malibu 5-1 – Best Beyers in Field and drops in class. Layoff only question

6 – Peacenik 8-1 – Showed promise at philly as a 3yo. Comes out of key race when he was spent in a speed duel. Trainer only negative

9 – Ride Cowboy Ride 12- 1 – Could be speed of race. Makes 4yo debut after long layoff. Has shown a liking for Tampa surface

Race 8 Tampa

CF – 1

7 – I’m Dancing Too – 30-1 – Last was prep at Gulfstream. Calder invader could be dangerous.

8 – Solar Power 12 -1 – 2nd race at Tampa angle and 2nd race after layoff. Like the positive jockey switch.

2 – Najrain – 2-1 – use in exotics

Race 11 Tampa

CF – 3

8 – Big Gem – 9-2 – Slow start in sprint debut at Gulf. Like the add blinkers and stretchout play here for good trainer

2 – Nehelennia – 15-1 – Makes turf debut. Love the breeding. Trainer has them fit off layoffs

Check also eligible’s 11 and 12 – if in play in exactas

Race 12 Tampa

CF- 7

11 – Western Slew – 6-1 – Drops after showing speed. Makes2nd start at Tampa. Was bet in last.

1 – Magics Runner 12-1 – Lost debut by 86 lengths. Drops from MSW to MCL and first start as 3yo. Powerful angle. Good trainer.

6 – Kitcheman – 7-2 – Use in Exotics

********

Hawthorne

Race 6 Hawthorne

CF – 6

4 – Processors Turf – 8-1 – Faced much better in last two.

7 – County Clerk – 8-1 – Likes Hawthorne. Been facing better at Oaklawn

6 – Crack the Cognac – 10-1 May make lead and keep going today.

Race 8 Hawthorne

CF 10

4 – Fear Nor Favor – 12-1 – Like a sprinter stretching out in a field with zero speed. Was overmatched in allowance in last and ran into Tough horse who won his next start two back.

10 – Toccet Roccet – 10-1 – Was a classy horse once – compete in Ill Derby as 3yo. First start in career racing without blinkers so have to give him a shot.

12 – Frank’s Choice 6-1 – Probably will be gunning for lead and would suspect he might be post time favorite.

Race 9 – Hawthorne

CF – 4

10 – Lovie Bear – 6-1 – Ness runner dueled in last.

6 – Black Havoc – 9-2 – Ran decent in MSW last year in only race on dirt. Drop is suspicious

2 – Choctaw Smoke – Didn;t like Tampa – Can improve with Blinkers

*************

Gulfstream

Race 4

CF3

1 – Sleepless Dixie – 15 -1 – Love the 2yo who competed well in stakes races and then get bet in return as 3yo who probably needed that race and are now primed for a big performance

9 – Mending Hearts – 6-1 – Ran a big one 2 back over surface

5 – Maple Forest – 5-2 – Pletcher runner will be tough to beat

Race 5 – Gulfstream

CF5

3 – New Tomorrow – 4-1 – Ward runner bred for the turf. Trainer excels at turf sprints.

7 – Patient Approval – 12 -1 – If this was a two turn race I would be all over him. Pencil him in for the stretchout next time. Love the turf breeding.

8 – Hollie’s Holiday – 6-1 – Love Harlan Holiday firsters on turf. May need more distance as well.

12 – Hail to the band 8-1 – Rice runners dangerous first on turf. Nice turf breeding.

Race 7 – Gulfstream

CF 4

3 – Heroic Pursuit 12-1 – Lone speed could be dangerous.

4 – Erin Rose – 5-2 – Monster horse will be chalk

5 – Unicorn Girl – 4-1 – Hard to fault a horse that is 9 for 23 lifetime. Love these claimers against NW1X field conditions

Race 8 – Gulfstream

CF 10

9 – Lucas Brady – 5-1 – Gets Lasix today and comes out of key race 3 back – his last race on the turf. Only issue is pace set up.

7 – Our Champion – 12-1 – Class of the field. Class is always king on the turf. Stretchout angle in play.

1 – Lord Justice 6-1 – May try to wire field with slow pace. Can hang around for share.

Race 10 – Gulfstream

CF 9

3 – Valdosta – 20-1 – Had trouble in last two. Was in key races before that at Philly. Bombs away today.

5 – Family Foundation – 5-2 – Likely will go off as chalk. Dropper is dangerous.

6 – Show the Way J – Beaten chalk last out. Use in exotics
